National Tree Day

Nature elevates the human spirit. It ignites passion, inspiration, creativity and purpose. Australia is a unique, beautiful and breath-taking country. It’s critical that we conserve our natural heritage, as well as bring nature back to our urban areas – our homes, workplaces, schools, and cities. We need to cultivate healthy, enriching, life-enhancing environments in which to live.

– Debbie Agnew, National Tree Day Manager

Trees are the lungs of the earth, promoting oxygen production, intercepting airborne nasties and reducing smog; all of which enhance our planet’s respiratory health. Sunday, July 30 will see Planet Ark celebrating National Tree Day’s 22nd year of engaging communities in hands-on environmental action, planting native trees and shrubs in an effort to increase Australia’s biodiversity.

National Tree Day is a recognised initiative that has since grown in to Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature protection event. Planet Ark asks for your help to plant native trees and shrubs across our country. Improve your habitat and learn about native flora and fauna while having fun with your local community. Take note eco-warrior yogis: for the remainder of July, Planet Ark is calling on yoga studios across the country to go out on a limb for the environment and offer special yoga classes, nature meditations and eco-activities in honour of the tree (pose). To register your studio for a Tree Day yoga class or run your own Tree Day site, visit here

If you’re in New South Wales, head to Third Settlement Reserve, Edison Parade, Winston Hills between 10:00am and 1:00pm on Sunday, July 30 for a fun day of giving back to your community and environment.
