How to attract the job you want

Most of us know that sinking feeling that sets in on Sunday evening. Who hasn’t had a case of the Monday blues as the prospect of the work week looms again?

If we’re basically fulfilled in our jobs, the feeling fades as we get through Monday. But what if that feeling of dread keeps going throughout the week? That miserable Monday feeling can easily turn into weeks, months, or even years of discontent. And you deserve much more than that.

The good news is that you can take a first step towards creating the career and the life you really want. As mindset and leadership coach Emma Tynan (emmatynan.com), says: ‘I speak with women from all over the world, every day, who have been swept along with the current and into careers because of a ‘‘should’’. Create an exit strategy and leap. You were not born to pay bills and die.’

According to life coach, business strategist and motivational speaker Simon Alexander Ong (simonalexanderong.com), attracting the job you want is about creating a clarity of vision around your ideal career.

Simon advises visualising exactly what your ideal career will look like every day. ‘A beautiful side-effect of this is that you will begin attracting a flood of opportunities over time, as you connect with this visualisation on a daily basis. Everything is created twice. First in the mind and then in reality. So you need to pay very careful attention to your thoughts, for they have a way of becoming real.’

What’s keeping you from taking the leap into the future career that you want? In a word – you. If you feel out of alignment every day, as if you should be somewhere else, doing something else, it’s more than likely your intuition trying to get your attention.

‘Your intuition never shouts, it’s a whisper,’ says Emma. ‘Your inner guidance system is always trying to steer you into alignment. You have gifts and skills buried within you and if you’re not happy with what you’re doing, you know you are out of alignment.’ This ‘misalignment’ of our true desires with our daily reality manifests in many ways, physical as well as psychological. ‘It includes physical symptoms as well – like migraines, back pain and a suppressed immune system,’ explains Emma.

But change is within your grasp. ‘Walk confidently in the direction of your desires. I believe everyone can have a soul on fire kinda life, if they’re willing and courageous enough to go after it.’
